Explanation

DLCWest maintains programs which your web page can call. Such a program is a CGI. It creates a graphic image which it sends to the browser looking at your page.

A Hit Counter is a CGI that keeps count of how many people visit your page, and converts that number to a picture of a digital display. You pick the image number of those appearing below.

You must give the HitCounter a variable name in which to store the number of hits. It must be unique. Therefore, we suggest you follow our custom of using the combination of your name, and the file name. For instance, on this page, we use "kjsamplecounter".
